Port an Eilean

A mixed wind from light to force 3 with a little rain awaited the sailors an their trip round the annual island race for the Port an Eilean trophy.
With a an overline the start the ISO with Colin and Graham and to do a quick flip back before coming off the line mid-fleet. With Colins father visiting for the day looking down the line giving the expected helpful advice!

The mainly easterly gave a moderate breeze for a long beat, with the usual 2nd start as all the boats raft behind the island not playing a great role this year.
All the way back the ISO (Colin) and RS400 (Mark) fought with the ISO getting to its proper place in terms of relative position as fastest boat in front only half way back up the run, having been in a Barron sandwich for 2 miles. Mark (younger Barron) leading with Mike (father and older) behind the ISO.
The FlyingFifteens of Mike Barron and Ian McLaren had seen good racing most of the beat until the isalnd, then Mike started to make an impression.
All the way on the run back the asymetric spinnnaker boats criss-crossed but the FF with is old (but very effective) style spinnaker just kept catching up on handicap times.

In the end the FF of Mike Barron took the trophy overall, followed by Colin & Graham in the ISO then Mark & Bec Barron in the RS400. With just over 3 mins splitting the corrected time in the first three places.
